father and son lighting fire with flintWe are a dads’ group operating in South Herefordshire, UK, and surrounding areas, and are always welcoming newcomers. Unlike many other dads’ groups, we don’t meet on a weekly basis in a fixed location, but instead put on monthly events or trips. These are always organised by dads themselves, and cover a wide range of activities, all of which are father-friendly and designed to engage both children and their dads together.

We rely on dads coming forward with their ideas and time, but generally events involve fun learning, sport or cultural activities. We particularly favour events that are in some way unique, in that they can’t easily be experienced elsewhere. Past events have included climbing, a ‘How to Draw’ workshop, timber-frame construction, a trip to see the Severn Bore, beekeeping, ice-skating and much more. You can see pictures and reports on all our past events by viewing the Gallery.

We are open to dads, granddads, uncles or other father figures with children of all ages, but typically attract those with children of primary or pre-school age. The group is run on an entirely voluntary basis, having been started up in 2009 by a group of local dads. We fund our events through a mixture of grants, donations and small, appropriate charges for each event. By this means, our aim is to ensure that all events remain strictly affordable, and so accessible to all.
