Cycling in Forest of Dean

Bicycles discarded as children and dads go swimmingGlorious spring weather turned a straightforward 10-mile cycle into a wild-swimming event as bikes and clothes were thrown aside to enjoy the cool of the pools and streams of the Forest. This traffic-free route pursues a disused railway line that used to serve the collieries of the area. Pushing or racing their dads round it proved to have little effect on the children’s high energy levels, even if they were exhibited at very different speeds. Dads enjoyed a relaxed morning free of mobile reception, becoming strewn out and scattered as a result. But after several picnics and pit-stops, all made it round, complete with the various doses of mud, cuts, grazes and bruises of a very enjoyable day.
